Today, one of our founding attorneys, Jonathan James, was able to secure a directed verdict after a jury trial in Stephenson County. Our client was charged with resisting or obstructing a peace officer. The arresting officer claimed that our client had obstructed a completely separate investigation after a traffic stop spilled over into our client’s yard. Attorney James was able to successfully cross examine the officer and pick apart his claim that our client actually impeded the investigation. There were several witnesses that testified at the trial and at the end of the day the court directed a verdict in favor of the Defense and found our client not guilty. This is the second time in less than a week that Attorney James has successfully defended one of our clients at trial and obtained a directed verdict.
